You want to go dinghy sailing at your local lake when the wind is strong enough to plane but not so strong it’s unsafe. You’re free weekends and some weekday afternoons.

Example criteria

  • Location: Your lake or marina (pick on map)
  • Wind: e.g. 8–18 mph so it’s breezy but manageable
  • Wind direction: Optional onshore or safe sector for your spot
  • Dry weather: e.g. precipitation under 20% so you’re not caught in rain
  • Time window: e.g. 10:00–17:00 and preferred days (e.g. Sat–Sun)
  • Session length: e.g. at least 3 consecutive hours so the breeze holds
